Jaguar XK 140 OTS

Project Dates:
January 2010 - April 2011

Jaguar XK140 restoration
Jaguar XK140 restoration looking elegant

Exterior changes that distinguished it from the XK120 included more substantial front and rear bumpers with over riders, and flashing turn signals (operated by a switch on the dash) above the front bumper.

This Jaguar XK140 OTS came to us removed of all its fittings etc.
The client requested a bare metal respray so we began by removing all paint and material by da sander. As we got more into the job the direction of the project changed, more so when the customer curiously laid underneath during one visit and looked at all the crusty underseal etc.
His comment of
'the underside will look like the outside won't it?'
Well as one can imagine that changed everything.

It went from an exterior colour change to bare metalling everything.
Underside, inside, engine bay you name it.
So many poor repairs clearly evident with a nasty left front corner repair that had bent the bulkhead, there was some corrosion too but nothing drastic. Fast forward over a 1000 hours of straightening and repairs including a new chassis and it was ready for levelling.
A slightly darker shade of British Racing Green was the favoured colour choice with 40% matting agent added before it was then flat and polished to give it a slightly older appearance to the paintwork.
Turleys of Nuneaton did a superb job trimming it and we think the sage leather against British Racing Green is spot on.
CKL built the engine.
The customer didn't keep it for too long after before it was sold through JD Classics.

The current owner got in touch just before the 2023 Goodwood Revival to ask if we had any more information on the cars history and to so say how pleased he is with car car and how exceptional the car is.
